Confirmed Speakers
- Daniel Cluskey
Daniel Cluskey is a sophomore undergraduate at Villanova University studying chemical engineering. He is excited and honored to be spreading his ideas with you at JUTKSEO VillanovaU. Originally from Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, Daniel graduated from Mt. Lebanon High School where he was the trumpet section leader in the marching band and a member of the Forensics team competing mainly in Extemporaneous speaking. Daniel is also an Eagle Scout. His service project involved restoring a Peace Pole at his home parish, St. Winifred’s, and installing a path and garden around it in order to beautify the church landscape. When he is not studying or working, Daniel is an avid theater enthusiast and can be found attending plays and musicals around the area. This passion for theater also led Daniel to his work study job at the Villanova Theatre where he works in the business office. He is also pursuing a minor in Theater. His personal motto is a quote from Doctor Seuss: “If you never did you should. These things are fun and fun is good.” Daniel is the type of person who likes to live in the moment and live life to the fullest. He is always looking for new opportunities and trying to seize the day. FAVORITE TED TALK: The world needs more Love Letters by Hannah Brencher - Daniel DiPasquale
Dan DiPasquale is honored to speak at JUTKSEO VillanovaU 2013. A native of Springfield, PA, Dan graduated from Fordham University Rose Hill in 2009 with a math major and classics minor. He then spent the next two years as a live-in volunteer at Cristo Rey New York High School where he taught computers and math, coached soccer and drama, pioneered a math club, and filled various other roles. It was there in Spanish Harlem that Dan met his beautiful wife Jessy; the two just married this past August. Dan first came to Villanova in 2011 as a theology graduate student and Campus Ministry Intern. He has since completed the theology program and begun the graduate program in clinical mental health counseling which he plans to complete in May. In addition to working as a graduate assistant in the Center for Multicultural Affairs and Campus Ministry here at Villanova, Dan serves as a chaplain intern at Einstein Hospital in North Philadelphia. Dan loves doing crossword puzzles, playing the piano, and eating. If he could have a superpower, Dan would choose to be a shape shifter to get the best of many worlds: fly like a bird; swim like a shark; run like a cheetah; and actually be the fly on the wall for the most interesting conversations. Favorite JUTKSEO talks: Dan Barber: How I fell in love with a fish; Dan Gilbert: The surprising science of happiness - Francis Kineavy
Frank has spent his life not just overcoming obstacles but changing the way people see people with disabilities. Thanks in part to an amazing family and community network, Frank has been able to navigate his way through elementary, secondary, and now the university level with great success. In 2009 Frank co-starred in "Coming off the DL" a documentary that won seven film festivals nationally and internationally. Frank is looking forward to graduation from Villanova University in 2013 but will deeply miss the time he spent with an able-ism awareness group that was created, imagined and has ultimately inspired...LeVel. "Level not only allowed me to continue my academic success through a network of academic support but also provided me with some of the best friends and memories that I will forever be thankful for"----Frank Kineavy When I am not working you can find me either outside cruising around talking to people or in my room listening to music that is not often heard by college students my age...Hall and Oates, Huey Lewis and the News, and every once in a while a little Phil Collins. And yes I have made a trip to the health center for a toe injury after dancing too much to Jackson Browne. - Lauren Fanslau
Lauren Fanslau is a second-year Master's candidate in Villanova's Theatre program and is also a graduate assistant in set construction. Prior to attending Villanova, Lauren received her B.A. in Theatre / Education from DeSales University in Center Valley, PA. After graduating, Lauren taught and directed in several schools and drama programs throughout the Lehigh Valley and Philadelphia areas: East Penn and Parkland School Districts, The Civic Theatre, The Music Training Center, and Allens Lane Arts Center. After spending five years working on the educational side of theater, Lauren decided in the Fall of 2011 that she was ready to return to the role of student-actor as opposed to teacher-director. She chose to apply to Villanova because of the equal emphasis given to academics, practical theatre knowledge, and performance. Lauren had the privilege of performing in several mainstage productions during her first year, including The Drowsy Chaperone, The Beautiful Life of the Woman Komachi, and Salome, and is now in the middle of performing in the current production: Everyman. This past summer, Lauren was able to live and work at the Abbey Theatre in Dublin, Ireland, thanks to a grant provided by the Villanova / Abbey Theatre exchange. She worked in four different departments at the Abbey Theatre (or National Theatre of Ireland), including Casting, Properties, Voice, and Community / Education. Lauren has found her overall experience with Villanova University and, specifically, her involvement in the Graduate Theatre Program to be both immensely challenging and rewarding. The hours are long, the workload is daunting, but being a part of such a tight-knit community of creative minds has been one of the most fulfilling times in her life. Q:What would you like to be the “World’s Best” at? A: Hugs. - Polly Edelstein
Polly Rose Edelstein is a second-year graduate theatre student at Villanova University and set assistant in the scene shop at Villanova Theatre. She earned her B.F.A. in Theatre from Stephens College with a minor in music. Polly moved to Philadelphia in 2010 and has worked as a theater teaching artist, director, and theater professional in and around the area. When not perched atop a ladder in the theater, you can see Polly hanging around West Philly coffee shops and seeing plays downtown. Her big dream is to artistic direct her own successful theater company that is dedicated to showcasing women in theater. - Elizabeth Marafino
Elizabeth Marafino is a second-year graduate theatre student at Villanova University and production assistant at Villanova Theatre. She earned her B.A. in Communication with a concentration in Performance Studies from Villanova University in 2012 with minors in English and Theatre. In her undergraduate career, she served as the President of Villanova Student Theatre, producing and directing several plays, including Don’t Drink the Water and The Complete Works of Shakespeare (Abridged). She also currently serves on The Mountain Playhouse’s Programming Committee, bringing theatre to rural communities of western Pennsylvania. When not constantly surrounding her work life with theatre, she can be seen going to plays in the greater Philadelphia Area. Though only a young whippersnapper, her dream is to revitalize theatre in rural America by sharing stories that matter most to these communities. Her dream vacation would be a month in the Aran Islands. Her hidden talent is making owl noises though cupped hands. Her personal motto is “Mistakes are Opportunities”. - Quinetta Roberson
Quinetta Roberson is a Professor of Management in the Villanova School of Business. She earned her PhD in organizational behavior from the University of Maryland, and holds an MBA in finance and strategy from the University of Pittsburgh and a BS in finance and accounting from the University of Delaware. Professor Roberson’s research focuses on understanding how to enhance fairness in work teams and how the management of diversity can improve organizational effectiveness. Her research has appeared in several management and psychology journals, and she is the editor of a Handbook of Diversity in the Workplace published by Oxford University Press. When Professor Roberson is not working on her research, she teaches courses globally on human resource management at the undergraduate, graduate and executive levels. Professor Roberson is a social scientist, and enjoys being social as much as she enjoys being a scientist. She is an avid traveler, having lived in Milan, given presentations in over 20 countries, hiked Machu Picchu, and gone on safari in South Africa. She considers herself an oenophile and earned a Baccalauréat Vigne et Vin in 2012. She has been snowboarding for 10+ years and raced in Aspen this year. In the true sense of social science, Professor Roberson believes that “all life is an experiment; the more experiments you make, the better” (Ralph Waldo Emerson). It is this belief that also motivated her to discover how she could combine her knowledge and experience with others in the Villanova community to create, innovate and inspire. - Theodore Radzinski
